OPEN AIR re-imagines and transforms billboards — a dominant symbol of urban commercial messaging — into a purposeful artwork and platform for social engagement and climate.
The suspended bamboo cloud forest, is irrigated with Skysource water generators by David Hertz, FAIA; grand prize winners of the 2018 Water Abundance XPrize. A literal fresh water oasis, OPEN AIR creates an open space, a crack, in the dense urban skyline. Embedded with intelligently networked environmental monitors, OPEN AIR is an artwork, symbol, and instrument for a green future.
